At that time the minimum salary of the employees had gone straight from Rs 6000 to Rs 18,000. Now the government can increase the salary of central employees again this year.

The report quoted sources as saying that the government is seriously considering this and there is a possibility that the fitment factor of the employees may increase this month. The fitment factor decides the basic salary for all central government employees. This time around, if there is a possible increase in the fitment factor, the minimum basic pay will increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000.

That is, the government employees will get a direct increase of Rs 8000 in the basic salary. Let us tell you that the fitment factor plays an important role in the salary received by the employees. Due to this factor, the salary of central employees increases by more than two and a half times.

According to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, the salary of the central employees is decided by their basic salary and fitment factor in addition to the allowances. That is, if a decision is taken to increase it, then the employees will get double benefits. Apart from this, according to the possibilities being expressed, the dearness allowance given to the employees by the central government may also increase.

The announcement of an increase in dearness allowance (DA) can be done in March. According to AICPI data, DA has reached 34.04% till December 2021. DA on basic pay of Rs 18,000 will be Rs 73,440 per annum after 3% increase in allowances.

However, it is difficult to say how much it will increase and when it will be announced. But it is believed that the dearness allowance may increase from 31 percent to 34 percent.
