Govt announces Rs 25,000 special allowance for ‘Move’ employees

Jammu: J&K employees, who have shifted from Srinagar to Jammu on or after October 29, 2021 in connection with official work, will get a special allowance of Rs 25,000.

The government on Monday announced that the special allowance at a uniform rate of Rs 25000 will be payable to such employees after it is duly established by the concerned Drawing & Disbursing Officer (DDO)

This order, though did not mention word ‘Move’ this yet it derived its spirit from a similar announcement made by the Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha on April 25, 2021 with a bit of difference.

“Approved Special Move TA@ Rs 25,000 per employee to be paid to all move employees, irrespective of whether they move to Srinagar or work from Jammu. This is special dispensation because of Covid 19 situation,” LG Sinha had tweeted through his official Twitter handle on April 25, 2021.

However, in case of today’s order, this special allowance will be payable only to those employees who have shifted to Jammu from Srinagar on or after October 29.

“In continuation of Government Order No. 1133-JK(GAD) of 2021 dated October 25, 2021 and Government Order No. 1156-JK(GAD) of 2021 dated October 28, 2021, it is hereby ordered that Special Allowance at a uniform rate of Rs. 25000 shall be payable to the employees who shift from Srinagar to Jammu in connection with official work on or after October 29, 2021, after the same is duly established by the concerned Drawing & Disbursing Officer,” read an order issued by GAD Commissioner Manoj Kumar Dwivedi today.

According to Dwivedi, the order has been issued “with the concurrence of the Finance department conveyed vide U.O No. FD-Code/436/2021-03-Finance department dated November 12, 2021.”

The J&K administration has maintained that it will work from both the capital cities i.e., Jammu and Srinagar simultaneously while skipping the traditional Darbar Move from this (ongoing) winter season.

This will mean limited move of employees and paraphernalia. The Lieutenant Governor’s office (Secretariat), Civil Secretariat, PHQ (DGP’s office), offices of Administrative Secretaries etc. however will continue to be Move offices, total 34 in number. Earlier the government vide its order No 1133-JK(GAD) of 2021 dated October 25, 2021 had set the process of “partial Darbar Move” in motion, when the General Administration Department (GAD) had ordered 186 employees of 34 Move offices to “start working from civil secretariat, Jammu as well.”

“It is hereby ordered that the officers/officials figuring in… this order shall start working from Civil Secretariat, Jammu as well, as per functional requirement of the departments in addition to the employees already working there,” the order by GAD Commissioner had mentioned
