Govt to do away with Term-I exams for classes 1-9
‘Students to be evaluated on basis of school based assignments, tutorials’
Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has decided to do away with the Term-I exams instead the students will be evaluated through school based assignments and tutorials for classes 1-9.
In an official communiqué, Joint Director SCERT Srinagar has mentioned that fifty percent of weightage shall be given to School Based Assessment (SBA), a learner friendly assessment involving different formats rather than pen-paper test.
“The tutorials-cum-assignment for the syllabus developed by SCERT of Kashmir division which has been disseminated through various digital means to the schools, teacher and students shall also form the base for the assessment purpose and fifty prevent of weightage shall be given to the these assignments,” it reads.
SCERT also said that the concerned District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIETs) through District Resources Group (DRGs), RPs, Cluster Resource Persons (CRPs) shall guide the teachers in conducting the assessment and the process shall be completed by August-20-2021.
“The assessment should be learner friendly and the concerned school or the teacher shall identify the learning gaps among the students which must be bridged immediately after culmination of the assessment process,” it reads.
Moreover, the SCERT also said that the school based assessment shall be integrated with the teaching learning process for both online and offline education.
