The J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) declared result / notified percentile merit for 8575 District/ Divisional/UT cadre posts of Class-IV pertaining to various departments which were advertised under provisions of the Jammu & Kashmir Appointment to Class-IV (Special Recruitment) Rules, 2020 notified vide S.O.184 of 04-06-2020.
Under the aforemnetioned new Class IV recruitment rules, 8575 vacancies of Class IV relating to multiple cadres/departments were referred to the JKSSB by the General Administartion Department for open recruitment through a common test.
The aforementioned 8575 Class IV posts were advertised by the JKSSB under the Accelerated Recruitment Programme launched by the LG Administration in the UT Of Jammu and Kashmir. The object of the Accelerated Recruitment Programme is to fill the available vacancies in various Government Departments in a time bound and transparent manner.
These new rules for recruitment to Class IV posts envisage selection only on the basis of a common written test for posts belonging to multiple cadres and departments. Interview for Class IV posts has been completely dispensed with.
Further, additional weightages for domiciles of districts/divisions have been envisaged in these rules in addition to extra points for economically marginalised groups like widows/divorcees, casual/daily rated workers, families having no one as Government employee, etc.
This template of recruitment in respect of Class IV posts has been introduced for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, the powers for recruitment of Class IV posts were delegated to Deputy Commissioners and Heads of Departments, with no uniformity in methods and procedures of recruitment.
The examination for the Class IV posts was initially scheduled to be held in December, 2020 which could not be conducted due to announcement of DDC Elections in the UT.
Subsequently keeping in view the harsh winter conditions and status of NH 44 and other related factors, the OMR examination for these posts was conducted in three batches on 27th February, 28th 2021 and 01st March, 2021 at 382 examination centres/venues in 16 Districts of J&K UT.
About 4.04 lakh candidates had applied for these posts out of which about 3.28 lakh candidates appeared for the examination held for 8575 advertised posts, which is the biggest single recruitment exercise conducted by any Recruiting Agency of J&K both in terms of the number of posts advertised and the scheduled count of candidates.
Under the Accelerated Recruitment Drive, the Govt referred 19410 posts of various categories belonging to different cadres/ departments. Out of which 18300 posts have been advertised by the J&K SSB upto 31st March 2021.
Further, out of the advertised 18300 posts, the J&K SSB has declared results for about 12,461 posts in a short span of six months which in itself is a record.
The JKSSB has maintained highest standards of transparency and fairness in all the recently held written examinations besides ensuring time bound results amid all the odds and difficulties caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic since the beginning of 2020.
Further, the J&K SSB had scheduled Examination for 513 posts including Junior Engineers, Draftsman, Foreman, Library Assistants, Librarian etc in the last week of May which was postponed due to surge in COVID-19 cases & the lockdown restrictions in the UT.
The Board reiterates its commitment to complete the selection for rest of the posts referred under Accelerated Recruitment Drive as and when situation improves.
However, it needs to be mentioned that the posts of the Health & Medical Education will be accorded top most priority to augment and strengthen the response of the Government to fight the ongoing 2nd wave and a possible third wave of COVID-19 as predicted by the Health Experts.
