Srinagar, Feb : The Meteorological Department (MeT) on Friday said that dry weather will likely continue till February 15th and thereafter widespread rain and snowfall is expected between February 16-17th night in the region, officials said.
In the latest weather forecast advisory, Director MeT, Sonam Lotus said they were expecting light to moderate rains in plains and snow in upper reaches of the Kashmir region between February 16th and 17th, however dry and clear weather will continue till 15th of this month.
“We are expecting light to moderate snow and rain at scattered places of Kashmir on February 16th, especially in higher reaches. While there is no major or heavy snowfall expected in the region,” Lotus said.
As per MeT data, Kashmir witnessed improvement in night temperatures from the past several days. Summer capital Srinagar settled at minus 2.4°C on Friday night. Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 9.4°C.
Ski resort Gulmarg recorded a minimum of minus 10.2°C and was the coldest place in the Valley.
The mercury in Kupwara has settled at a low of minus 3.9 degrees Celsius. Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.3 degrees Celsius, while Kokernag recorded a low of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius.
